Complete Tooth Restoration
Dental implants can replace one or more teeth that are missing or failing to completely restore your smile and oral health. They are an ideal long-term option for replacement teeth because the implant post acts just like a natural tooth root. This gives the patient the ability to speak clearly, eat the foods they love, and smile with confidence.
Dr. Livesay, Dr. Carey, and Dr. Naselsker specialize in dental implant-based tooth restorations and can create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Whether you are missing one tooth, many teeth, or all of your teeth, we encourage you to contact us at our practice in Bardstown, KY. One of our board-certified oral surgeons will meet with you to discuss your restoration options.
Benefits of Dental Implants
Functional
Dental implants offer complete functionality, so you can speak, eat, and smile freely!
Versatile
Restore a single tooth, many teeth, or even an entire arch of teeth through full-arch restoration.
Looks Natural
Every prosthesis is crafted to blend in with your surrounding teeth for beautiful, natural-looking results.
Easy Dental Care
Dental implants require simple maintenance, just like natural teeth: brush, floss, and see your dentist for regular checkups.
Dental Implant Placement
Every oral surgery procedure begins with a consultation. This first visit is important because it allows you to get to know your doctor, learn about your condition, and find out about your treatment options.
During your consultation, your oral surgeon will review your medical and dental history, perform an oral evaluation, and ask about your goals for treatment. 3D scans may also be taken at this time. Immediate implants may be placed on the same day as the consultation, while other options may require you to come back on a different day for your surgical appointment.
The dental implant surgery will start with the administration of anesthesia. The type of anesthesia used will be selected and discussed with you during your consultation appointment. Once the anesthesia has taken effect and you are completely comfortable, your surgeon will place the dental implant post into the jaw bone. The surgical site will then be closed with sutures.
The implant post, made from titanium, will fuse with the jaw bone over the next several weeks. The fusion of the post to the jaw bone is what makes dental implants so strong. After the healing period, your restorative dentist will place the crown.
We want you to have a safe procedure and smooth recovery. Please follow all written and verbal instructions provided to you by your surgeon. Our practice has posted general instructions on our site.
Types of Anesthesia
Our practice offers several forms of anesthesia.
Immediate Implants
A traditional dental implant procedure requires healing for several weeks before placing the final prosthesis. However, immediate implants may be recommended for patients who need a tooth extraction and want to replace it with a dental implant.
Bone loss is a common occurrence after losing a tooth. Having a dental implant placed immediately after an extraction avoids this issue, and the patient does not have to go through a separate surgical procedure.
During the surgery for immediate implants (also known as same-day implants), your oral surgeon will extract the tooth first and then surgically place the dental implant post into the jaw bone before placing the crown.
Cost of Dental Implants
Oral surgery cost varies from patient to patient. There are many factors that determine a patient’s total cost of treatment, including:
- How many implants need to be placed
- The type of anesthesia used during the surgery
- The complexity of the procedure
- The type of medical/dental insurance
- If additional procedures are part of your treatment plan, such as bone grafting
We will estimate the cost of your treatment and discuss payment options during your first visit to our office. We encourage you to call our office if you have any questions about your treatment.

A typical surgery for one implant takes about one hour. However, every patient and treatment plan is different, and your surgery may be longer or shorter. You can receive a more accurate time estimate during your first visit to our practice.
